Central Marketing Transport Services, in the midst of a growth spurt, is out with the old and in with the new.  They are a company on the rise.  New equipment with the latest technology and new facilities is allowing CMTS a greater presence on the logistics map, giving them a leg up on the competition.

Adding over 60 brand new trailers by the end of 2016, CMTS is upgrading over half of their fleet.  The company has added several new tractors since the last quarter of 2015 with more coming in 2016, including some Western Star 5700’s.

329-2CMTS is also on top of the latest technology in the industry, equipping each of their trucks with Virtual Tech, a remote diagnostic system that comes directly from the manufacturer in Detriot, Michigan.  With Virtual Tech, if the check engine light comes on in the truck, an email automatically gets sent to maintenance.  The email states whether or not the delivery can be completed or if the problem is urgent and needs taken care of right away.  It also includes a list of dealers in the area after checking their inventory to ensure they have the part needed to fix the problem.  Maintenance can then call the dealer they are sending the truck to so they can have everything ready upon arrival.

To go along with the tractors, the trailers also have cutting edge technology with telematics, which allows CMTS to always know the status of their trailers.  Telematics reads the location and the temperature of a trailer at all times.  If there is a problem, an alarm gets sent to maintenance so it can be taken care of.  Gary Burton, Fleet Maintenance and Equipment Manager with CMTS, says, “On the leading edge of food safety, we are a small fleet with big ideas.”

All trucks at CMTS also have GPS and electronic logging.  GPS has the ability to log all events including hard breaking.  This gets reported to the safety team, as hard breaking could possibly be a safety hazard.  Electronic logging includes events such as hours of operation and is not yet required in all trucks, but will be in the foreseeable future.

Central Marketing Transport Services is in the process of opening a state-of-the-art shop in Strafford, Missouri.  This new facility, which should be completed by the end of 2016, will take CMTS to the next level.  With great visibility off I-44, the facility will include 6 drive through bays, making the process much more efficient.

CMTS is “coming in hot”, with the latest equipment, advanced technology, and a brand-new facility.  Putting their name on the map, this is a logistics company to look out for.
